Short answer Wix and Squarespace both let you make a logo yourself, for free. Wix’s logo tool is now Wixel, an AI design platform: free to design and download (SVG, PNG and JPG), with paid plans for more AI credits. Squarespace has a free, manual logo maker: you type your name, add an icon from a library and download a PNG. Both are quick, but the logos are built from shared elements: Wix says it can’t guarantee your logo isn’t similar or even identical to someone else’s, or that you can register it as a trademark. Logomint is a logo design service: a senior designer creates an original logo for €129, €199 or €299, with vector and source files, first concepts in 48 hours and a money-back guarantee.
Logomint is our own service, so we’ve kept this comparison to facts you can check. Every Wix and Squarespace fact below comes from their own pages, checked on 15 October 2026, with links at the end. Wix showed its prices in US dollars for us.

Wix: from Wix Logo Maker to Wixel
Wix has moved its logo tool to Wixel, its AI design platform: Wix’s help centre calls Wixel “the main place to create new logos” with Wix. You work with Aria, Wixel’s AI design agent, or start from a template and edit it yourself. The older Wix Logo Maker is still available, with limited AI support.
Price. You can design a logo and download it as a high-quality file on Wixel’s free plan. Using AI to adjust a design costs credits; editing by hand doesn’t. When we checked, the free plan included 120 AI credits a month and up to 20 logos; paid plans cost $90, $290 or $590 a year for more credits and more logos. The older Logo Maker sells one-off logo plans (non-refundable), from a Basic plan with high-resolution PNGs to plans with SVG vector files, social media files and a brand kit; Wix shows their prices only inside the Logo Maker.
Files. Wixel downloads include SVG, transparent PNG and JPG files.
Ownership and trademarks. Wix gives full commercial usage rights, but its logo terms are clear about the limits: Wix “cannot guarantee” that your logo won’t be “significantly similar, or even identical” to another user’s, because its elements are provided to all users on a non-exclusive basis. It can’t guarantee you’ll be able to register your logo as a trademark, and you agree not to challenge similar logos made by other Wix users. The terms also say you can’t alter a purchased Wix Logo; a changed logo counts as a new one to buy. Wixel says its icons and fonts are licensed for commercial use, but are “not exclusive to you and are available to all Wixel users”.
Squarespace: a free, manual logo maker
Squarespace still offers a free logo maker: you add your company name, an optional tagline and an icon. The icons come from the Noun Project, and you can also upload your own SVG icon. Squarespace doesn’t describe it as AI.
Price. It’s free with a Squarespace 7 account; you log in or create an account to download.
Files. You download PNG files only, with a transparent background, in colour, white or black, up to 2,000 pixels. There’s no SVG or vector file: Squarespace suggests using a third-party image editor to change the file type. The link to edit your logo expires after 45 days.
Ownership. Squarespace says each icon “has its own usage terms”, set by the Noun Project. It doesn’t make a clear statement about owning or trademarking a logo made with the tool.
What you get with Logomint
At Logomint, a senior designer from our team draws your logo from your brief, from scratch. You get 1, 2 or 3 concepts depending on the plan, revisions with the same designer, and a transparent logo, vector, printable and source files. You own the final logo once your project is paid and delivered, and because it’s original, nothing in it is shared with other customers.
It costs €129, €199 or €299, one-off, with first concepts within 48 hours and final files within 7 days. If you don’t like the concepts, our money-back guarantee refunds you in full before you approve one.
The real difference: a logo you can own and protect
A logo maker is the fastest way to get a usable logo for a website, and it costs nothing. The catch is originality. When a logo is assembled from icons, fonts and templates that every user can pick, someone else can end up with something very close to yours, and that makes it harder to protect as a trademark. Wix says so in its own terms.
That doesn’t matter for a side project or a placeholder. It matters once you invest in packaging, signage, ads or a trademark, because changing your logo later means redoing all of it (more in why cheap logos cost more in the long run). When a Wix or Squarespace logo maker is the better choice
- You need a logo today, for free, for a side project, a test page or a placeholder.
- You’re building your website on Wix or Squarespace and want something that fits it in a few minutes.
- You don’t need a trademark or plan to replace the logo once the business takes off.
- You need vector files for free: Wixel’s free plan includes SVG downloads (Squarespace’s doesn’t).
When Logomint is the better choice
- You want an original logo that isn’t built from elements shared with other users.
- You plan to register a trademark or put your logo on packaging, signage and ads.
- You want a designer’s judgement: concepts drawn for your audience, and revisions with the same person.
- You want the full file set (vector, print and source) and a money-back guarantee, at a fixed price.

FAQ
Is the Wix logo maker free?
Yes: Wix’s logo tool is now Wixel, where you can design a logo and download it as a high-quality file on the free plan. AI adjustments use credits; paid plans cost $90, $290 or $590 a year for more credits and logos.
Does Squarespace still have a free logo maker?
Yes. When we checked, Squarespace’s logo maker was free with a Squarespace 7 account. It downloads PNG files only, up to 2,000 pixels, with no vector file.
Can I trademark a logo made with Wix?
Maybe not. Wix’s own terms say it can’t guarantee you’ll be able to register or use your logo as a trademark, or that it isn’t similar or identical to another user’s.
Which should I choose for a new startup?
For a quick placeholder, a free logo maker is fine. For a brand you’ll build on, protect and print, choose a designed logo. Our Logomint vs Canva and Logomint vs Looka comparisons cover the other popular DIY and AI tools.
