Short answer 99designs is a design platform: you run a contest where many designers submit ideas (from €289 to €1,299 for our location, excluding tax), or you hire one designer for a 1-to-1 project. Logomint is a logo design service: one fixed price (€129, €199 or €299), a senior designer from our team, first concepts in 48 hours and a money-back guarantee. 99designs suits founders who want dozens of directions and have time to run a contest. Logomint suits founders who want a custom logo from one accountable designer, for less.

Logomint is our own service, so we’ve kept this comparison to facts you can check. Every 99designs fact below comes from 99designs’ own pages, checked on 15 October 2026, with links at the end. 99designs showed its prices in euros for our location.

Price: what you actually pay

99designs sells logo contests in four fixed packages. When we checked, they cost €289 (Bronze, about 30 concepts), €479 (Silver, about 60), €859 (Gold, about 90, open to Mid and Top Level designers only) and €1,299 (Platinum, about 60, Top Level designers only, with a dedicated manager and prioritised support). These prices exclude sales tax. 99designs also sells logo bundles as contests, such as a logo and brand guide from €409 or a logo and brand identity pack (logo, business card, letterhead, envelope and Facebook cover) from €569.

If you hire one designer through a 1-to-1 project, the price depends on your budget and what that designer charges. On top of that, you pay a flat 5% platform fee, shown on the designer’s invoice.

At Logomint, the price on the pricing page is the price you pay: €129, €199 or €299. Revisions, vector files and source files are part of the plan. Premium (€299) also includes brand guidelines, stationery design, a 3D mockup and a social media kit. Optional extras, such as a logo animation or 24-hour rush delivery, are listed with their price before you pay.

In a 99designs contest, your brief goes to its designer community and anyone eligible can enter. 99designs says its designers are vetted and ranked as Entry, Mid or Top Level; Gold and Platinum contests are limited to the higher levels. In a 1-to-1 project, you browse portfolios, request quotes and pick one designer yourself. 99designs doesn’t allow generative AI in logo contests, and it warns that AI-generated content may not qualify for copyright protection.

At Logomint, your logo is drawn by a senior designer from our own team. We don’t use AI to generate logos, for the same reason: a logo that is mostly AI-generated may be hard to protect (more in can you trademark an AI-generated logo).

Process and speed

A 99designs contest runs for about 7 days across a qualifying round and a final round. In the qualifying round, designers submit concepts and you give feedback; 99designs suggests doing this once or twice a day. You then pick up to six finalists, who have 3 days to refine their designs, and you choose a winner. You can pick finalists or a winner early, or run a fast-tracked contest of 1, 2 or 3 days with no final round. After that comes the handover: the winning designer uploads the final files, and you have 5 days to review them before the prize is paid automatically.

At Logomint, there’s no contest to manage. You fill in a short brief, your first concepts arrive within 48 hours, and your final files within 7 days. You give feedback to one designer rather than to dozens.

Files and ownership

99designs promises full ownership and “digital and print-ready files”. The formats you receive are the ones requested from the designer, so list them in your brief: its help centre explains vector files (such as AI, EPS and PDF) and raster files (such as PNG and JPG). If you’re unsure, see which logo file formats you need.

Ownership on 99designs passes through a Design Transfer Agreement. In a contest, the designer keeps the copyright until you declare a winner; both of you sign the agreement during the handover, and it transfers ownership once the prize is paid. In a 1-to-1 project, it takes effect when you pay the designer’s invoice. If you take a refund on a contest, you can’t use any of the designs, and in a public contest designers may show their entries on their profiles.

Every Logomint plan includes a transparent logo, vector, printable and source files, and you own the final logo once your project is paid and delivered.

Revisions

On 99designs, there’s no fixed number of revisions in a contest. Designers refine their work based on your feedback during the qualifying round, and your finalists revise during the final round. You can ask for small changes during the handover; 99designs tells designers that most do small tweaks for free but may charge for more involved revisions. In a 1-to-1 project, revisions are whatever you agree with your designer.

At Logomint, Starter includes 2 revisions, and Growth and Premium include unlimited revisions. The difference in volume is real: a contest gives you dozens of concepts, while we give you 1, 2 or 3 from one designer and refine them with you.

Refunds and guarantees

99designs offers a 100% money-back guarantee within 60 days of payment on contests, except contests with a guaranteed prize, contests that have entered the final round (selecting finalists makes a contest guaranteed) and contests where a winner has been awarded. The guarantee doesn’t apply to 1-to-1 projects: a pending invoice can be cancelled if no work has been done, but once work has started, a refund needs the designer’s written approval.

At Logomint, you can get a full refund before you approve a concept, for any reason, and within 7 days of approving one as long as the final files haven’t been delivered. We ask for one round of revisions first, because most concerns are solved there. The details are in our refund policy.

When 99designs is the better choice

  • You want dozens of directions from many designers before you commit to one. No single designer can match the range of a contest with 30 to 90 entries.
  • You like the contest format and have a week to give feedback every day.
  • You have a larger budget and want a Gold or Platinum contest limited to experienced designers, with a dedicated manager on Platinum.
  • You’ve already found a designer on 99designs whose portfolio you love, and want to work with them in a 1-to-1 project.

If neither option fits, our roundup of Fiverr and 99designs alternatives covers the others.

When Logomint is the better choice

  • You want a lower fixed price. Our plans start at €129, below the cheapest 99designs logo contest, with no platform fee on top.
  • You don’t want to run a contest. One senior designer works on your brief, and you give feedback to one person.
  • You need to move fast: first concepts in 48 hours, final files within 7 days.
  • You want a guarantee that runs through the concept stage, refunded in full before you approve a concept.
